Text Quotes
When you work with directors who really love actors, who love their contribution, it feels amazing. But sometimes when you work with directors, you feel like youre in the way  (Actors Quotes) There are lots of actors who are awful people, but nobody talks about them being awful because they’ve made billions  (Actors Quotes) Some actors count their lines as soon as they receive a script. I’m the opposite. I try to see how many lines I can whittle down. You can say just as much in 4 as you can in 14  (Actors Quotes) I love to take actors to a place where they open a vein. That’s the job. The key is that I make it safe for them to open the vein  (Actors Quotes) I don’t think any actors love taking their clothes off on film, unless you’re an exhibitionist, which I’m certainly not  (Actors Quotes) You can be the best actor in the world, but if you don’t have that one lucky moment, it kind of doesn’t matter. There are a lot of amazing actors who will never get the chance to prove themselves because they won’t have that one lucky moment  (Actors Quotes) I started out as a writer and a director. I started acting because I wanted to know how to relate to the actors. When people ask me what I do, I don’t really say that I’m an actor, because actors often wait for someone to give them roles  (Actors Quotes) I certainly know quite a few kid actors, but I’m not really friends with them. They’re all very nice people, but I just don’t run in the same circles  (Actors Quotes) It’s a nice challenge to escape your reality. I think that’s why actors do what we do. We like to play other people. It’s therapeutic  (Actors Quotes) Actors and writers need to come back to the theater because it’s a place where you can learn. You have to pay your dues, and people who haven’t paid their dues in the theater, I think, have a hard time creating a whole career  (Actors Quotes) My parents were both actors my dad sort of quite early on. My mother acted for a while, and now she’s a painter  (Actors Quotes) I’d like to drill in a little more detail into one aspect of cutting which is particularly close to me and that’s dialogue editing. It is a vital part of editing especially in animated film, but in the end it is usually completely transparent to the audience. The vocal performances are reported for over several years and the actors are very rarely in recording studios together. That’s why the editor has got to all these different performances and edit them together to create the illusion of spontaneity and real action  (Actors Quotes) Dog movies nowadays are not what dog movies were 50 or even 10 years ago. For one thing, the dogs have become better actors  (Actors Quotes) Critics should be to actors what ornithologists are to birds: they can write all they want, but it shouldn’t affect them  (Actors Quotes) The comic is today’s western, so many movies, and I think that if actors want to optimize their longevity, it’s important for them to meet the fans because those fans are so loyal and will show up at any movie or tune in to any television show they’re on  (Actors Quotes) I try to be like a sponge when I’m around other actors, picking things up about the way they work and how they do things  (Actors Quotes) I was raised to be in service to something larger than myself. A lot of actors concentrate on what they will get out of the profession, rather than what they can offer it. The way I see it, if you come with something to offer, you can offer it forever  (Actors Quotes) Theatres, actors, critics and public are interlocked in a machine that creaks but never stops. There is always a new season in hand and we are to busy to ask the only vital question which measures the whole structure. Why theatre at all? What for? Is it an anachronism, a superannuated oddity? Surviving like an old monument or a quaint custom? Why do we applaud and what? Has the stage a real place in our lives? What function can it have? What could it serve? What could it explore? What are its special properties?  (Actors Quotes) I’ve had a year out of work, more, and just toughed it out. There are those who think that all actors are overpaid. I beg to differ  (Actors Quotes) I’d say working on television is much, much tougher than films. But television has a great connect with a live audience, which is a refreshing change for us actors  (Actors Quotes) I don’t like writing for comedians. I like writing for actors. The best comedians are the best actors  (Actors Quotes) When you’re working on a film, it’s almost like photographing paintings at a museum. You’re photographing somebody else’s world. I just try and interpret it and make it real, and make it what the actors are about, what the director is about, and what the film is about  (Actors Quotes) There’s always an imbalance with actors and actresses in the industry. And I think because there are just fewer movies overall being made, it’s that trickle down effect  (Actors Quotes) I always change my words in everything I do. I make the language fit, because I know the character from the inside out. Often character actors are not in a position to do that, but I do it. I don’t change any cue and I never change anybody else’s lines, but I make my own words fit my mouth  (Actors Quotes) So often actors only mix with actors, which is quite incestuous, and doesn’t give them the insight into how other people work  (Actors Quotes) I’ve always played the guy with the gun and the knife. That’s how many actors start out, playing the bad guy  (Actors Quotes) I just would never go audition, and yet I was in very visible places where people would come looking for actors. I say I’m lazy, though I’m sure if I were in therapy for a lot of years, it would turn out to be a lot more than laziness. After awhile, it was, like, too embarrassing for me not to go on auditions. I had to be humiliated into it  (Actors Quotes) I’ve often said there’s two kinds of actors. There’s a more gregarious type and the shy type  (Actors Quotes) When actors get pigeonholed, that’s their own doing to a large degree. Because if you do something that people like, obviously they’re going to ask you to do it again. It’s up to you to say no. If you’re that insecure about working, you’ll probably do what you’re known to do  (Actors Quotes) I’m not one of those actors who needs the media spotlight all the time to feel gratified. I’m happy to do one project a year and take the rest of the year off as long as that project is special  (Actors Quotes)
