As precious as life itself is our heritage of individual freedom, for man's free agency is a God - given gift

David O. McKay, the ninth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a strong advocate for individual freedom and the importance of free agency. He believed that our heritage of freedom is as precious as life itself, as it is a gift from God that allows us to make choices and shape our own destinies.

McKay understood that free agency is a fundamental principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He taught that God has given each of us the ability to choose for ourselves, and that our choices have consequences that can lead to either happiness or misery. McKay believed that it is through the exercise of our free agency that we can learn and grow, and ultimately become more like our Heavenly Father.

McKay also recognized that with freedom comes responsibility. He taught that we are accountable for the choices we make, and that we must strive to use our agency in ways that are in harmony with God’s will. McKay believed that true freedom comes from living according to the principles of righteousness and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Throughout his life, McKay worked to defend and protect individual freedom. He spoke out against tyranny and oppression, and he fought for the rights of all people to worship according to their own conscience. McKay believed that freedom of religion was a sacred right that should be upheld and respected by all.
