Buy an annuity cheap, and make your life interesting to yourself and everybody else that watches the speculation Picture Quote #1

Buy an annuity cheap, and make your life interesting to yourself and everybody else that watches the speculation

In the world of Charles Dickens, the idea of buying an annuity cheap and making one's life interesting through speculation would have been a common theme. Dickens often portrayed characters who were driven by their desire for wealth and status, and who were willing to take risks in order to achieve their goals. In many of his novels, characters engage in speculative ventures that ultimately lead to their downfall or redemption.

One such character is Mr. Micawber from "David Copperfield", who is constantly in search of ways to improve his financial situation. Micawber is known for his optimistic outlook on life and his belief that something will always turn up to save him from his financial troubles. He is constantly making speculative investments and schemes in the hopes of striking it rich. However, his ventures often fail, leading him further into debt and despair.

In "Great Expectations", the character of Miss Havisham is another example of someone who is driven by speculation and the desire for wealth. Miss Havisham is a wealthy, eccentric woman who is obsessed with her past and the idea of revenge. She spends her days living in a decaying mansion, wearing her wedding dress and surrounded by the remnants of her failed marriage. Miss Havisham's life is consumed by her desire for revenge on the man who jilted her, and she is willing to go to great lengths to achieve her goal.
