Text Quotes
Most of my story ideas come from my childhood. Sometimes they hatch from stories my parents told me, sometimes they come from experiences in my own life, and sometimes they are inspired by mere moments.  (Childhood Quotes) For many people who were never religious or who leave the religion of their childhood behind, it’s the experience of having children of your own that brings an urgency to the question of what you believe.  (Childhood Quotes) There are those who seem to feel they have no choice about being jerks in the present because they had a crappy childhood. Well, that’s the definition of childhood; nobody gets out alive. You either get stronger from what you experience, or you turn it into a crutch, an excuse, a dodge.  (Childhood Quotes) There is a dark side. I tend not to be as optimistic as Mary Richards. I have an anger in me that I carry from my childhood experiences - I expect a lot of myself and I’m not too kind to myself.  (Childhood Quotes) I always felt that with an Antoine Doinel film, Truffaut was taking a vacation, that Francois could relax when making a Doinel film. All of the language came to him very easily. ‘The 400 Blows,’ I felt, was a collage of all his childhood experiences. Every time he felt an Antoine Doinel film was necessary, he’d make one.  (Childhood Quotes) Childhood trauma is not necessarily a prophecy of doom, because some children are resilient or because later experiences help to restore mental health.  (Childhood Quotes) On the banks of the Nile, the Rosetta branch, I lived an enjoyable childhood in the City of Disuq, which is the home of the famous mosque, Sidi Ibrahim.  (Childhood Quotes) I remember feeling guilty that I had a good childhood. I thought everybody who is famous has to have a desperate childhood and work his way out of it, but I had a great one.  (Childhood Quotes) I could see myself in some sort of pioneer bonnet, it’s my childhood fantasy, but I think I look too Jewish for the prairie.  (Childhood Quotes) It’s always been a dream of mine, and a childhood fantasy, to play a great champion. I would much rather haven been an athlete than an actor. This is like some second place consolation prize.  (Childhood Quotes) I did spend a lot of my childhood playing out movie scenarios in my head. I’d walk along the road, pretending like I was in the army, talking on the radio, and doing maneuvers. I dreamt a lot about performing in movies and living in fantasies.  (Childhood Quotes) I found ‘Bordertown’ when I was standing on the border between childhood and my teens, and it carried me past that transition. In the process, it helped to create the next step of its own evolution: the modern urban fantasy owes a lot more to ‘Bordertown’ than many people will ever know.  (Childhood Quotes) I’m really confident. I had a perfect childhood. I had perfect parents and grandparents. They just love me, simply. So I have no fears.  (Childhood Quotes) For some men, life seems to be one long attempt to escape childhood and all the fears of childhood. That’s what many of us are doing.  (Childhood Quotes) As an actress, you’re perpetually about to be unemployed. That fear - when you have two parents who worked 9-to-5 jobs and went through periods of being unemployed - is real. Those were not welcome times in my childhood.  (Childhood Quotes) My work in general involves getting over my fears that are deeply embedded since childhood: Fear of darkness, fear of dangerous activities in general, and fear of dirt - I had a considerable obsessive compulsive disorder as a child.  (Childhood Quotes) I was such a sullen, angry, sad kid. I’m sure there are writers who have had happy childhoods, but what are you going to write about? No ghosts, no fear. I’m very happy that I had an unhappy and uncomfortable childhood.  (Childhood Quotes) I came from a very loving home, had a happy life with no great aspirations, but going to the seminary changed me. There was a chunk of my childhood missing. Once I’d realised it wasn’t for me, I still felt a tremendous pressure to continue for fear of letting everybody down.  (Childhood Quotes) Childhood, who like an April morn appears, Sunshine and rain, hopes clouded o’er with fears  (Childhood Quotes) Denial of childhood and denial of freedom are the biggest sins which humankind has been committing and perpetuating for ages.  (Childhood Quotes) It was a great childhood. We weren’t especially wealthy or anything, but I felt I had a kind of safety and freedom.  (Childhood Quotes) I saw no reason why childhood shouldn’t last forever. So I created clothes that worked and moved and allowed people to run, to jump, to leap, to retain their precious freedom.  (Childhood Quotes) I was encouraged to be imaginative and read, and it was a great childhood for a budding writer because I had the time and the freedom to go into a world of my own.  (Childhood Quotes) I had a happy childhood, with many stimulations and support from my parents who, in postwar times, when it was difficult to buy things, made children’s books and toys for us. We had much freedom and were encouraged by our parents to do interesting things.  (Childhood Quotes) All of my friends, I consider childhood friends because we met when I was probably 13, and I’m still friends with them today. It’s really nice that I have that core group.  (Childhood Quotes) I don’t think if you asked any of my childhood friends they would say that I had a weird childhood; they might say there weren’t a lot of regular rules, the conversations in the house were always very open, dreams were a great thing to talk about, everybody was making something all the time.  (Childhood Quotes) I’ve got an original graphic novel called ‘The Indian and the Bandit’ that I’m writing with a childhood friend.  (Childhood Quotes) . . . the companions of our childhood always possess a certain power over our minds which hardly any later friend can obtain.  (Childhood Quotes) The pain of childhood walks beside me as a friend, it teaches me how to invite the stillness of compassion - Shavasti  (Childhood Quotes) I don’t have any friends from my childhood because I didn’t stay at one school for very long.  (Childhood Quotes)
