Text Quotes
Novels attempt to render human experience; that's really all they are. They are meant to convey empathy for the character  (Convey Quotes) Many of my works fall into the category of 'Zeitgeist novels'. Yet I hope that they aren't only reportage, but also attempts to convey the sense of the present to the future  (Convey Quotes) There is more to sex appeal than just measurements. I don’t need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal, picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain  (Convey Quotes) You used to have to sing and convey emotion, and now, well, technically you can do anything with technology. It sucks for music today, but that’s why that old music feels so good to me  (Convey Quotes) As a philosopher, if I were speaking to a purely philosophic audience I should say that I ought to describe myself as an Agnostic, because I do not think that there is a conclusive argument by which one can prove that there is not a God. On the other hand, if I am to convey the right impression to the ordinary man in the street I think that I ought to say that I am an Atheist, because, when I say that I cannot prove that there is not a God, I ought to add equally that I cannot prove that there are not the Homeric gods  (Convey Quotes) Sometimes you don’t want to be a slapstick clown in order to convey a funny perception of the world  (Convey Quotes) When you are older you will understand how precious little things, seemingly of no value in themselves, can be loved and prized above all price when they convey the love and thoughtfulness of a good heart  (Convey Quotes) You have to see a building to comprehend it. Photographs cannot convey the experience, nor film  (Convey Quotes) A fact must be assimilated with, or discriminated fromm, some other fact or facts, in order to be raised to the dignity of a truth, and made to convey the least knowledge to the mind  (Convey Quotes) The voice has to be very clear at all times in order to convey the emotion  (Convey Quotes) The duty of a historian is simply to understand and then convey that understanding, no more than that  (Convey Quotes) My first duty to write a gripping yarn. Second is to convey credible characters who make you feel what they feel. Only third comes the idea  (Convey Quotes) You learn to rely on a few basic movements and use your voice to the greatest extent possible to convey your emotions. So there was a technical challenge there and a responsibility to create a character from behind the mask  (Convey Quotes) I’m not staid and unbiased here. I have certain biases I want to convey, and if you disagree, that’s fine  (Convey Quotes) When you are modelling, you are creating a picture, a still life, perhaps something like a silent film. You convey emotion but you are only using your body  (Convey Quotes) When I go from a role with heavy prosthetic makeup, which I’ve done quite a bit of as well, and then do a role where I’m not wearing any, I have to be conscious of toning everything down. Because when you’re wearing prosthetic makeup, of course, you have to really move your face a lot more to convey things through the makeup  (Convey Quotes) When you have a gown, there’s much more to be concerned about. Where is this crease falling? Are you making a weird shape with the dress? Are you doing the designer justice? With a bathing suit, it’s more about you and the mood you convey  (Convey Quotes) Words alone cannot fully convey the realities of the soul or the greatness of the human spirit  (Convey Quotes) In all my work I like to convey the fact that I like cooks, that it’s noble toil and that it is hard  (Convey Quotes) Under adversity, under oppression, the words begin to fail, the easy words begin to fail. In order to convey things accurately, the human being is almost forced to find the most precise words possible, which is a precondition for literature  (Convey Quotes) I think the brutality is important to convey as part of the story, to see how brutal it is to have these kids in battle with one another  (Convey Quotes) From the throes of inspiration and the eddies of thought the poet may at last be able to arrive at, and convey the right admixture of words and meaning  (Convey Quotes) Is it not the business of the conductor to convey to the public in its dramatic form the central idea of a composition; and how can he convey that idea successfully if he does not enter heart and soul into the life of the music and the tale it unfolds?  (Convey Quotes) My goal is to strip things down so that you need just the right amount of words or shape to convey what you need to convey. I like editing. I like it very tight  (Convey Quotes) What I was trying to convey there was the kind of waste land that was left after the war. It was a bit like one always thinks of war, you know, stark scenery and no birds, no trees, no leaves, nothing living. And just emptiness  (Convey Quotes) How or by what magic is it, that we convey our thoughts to one another with such case and accuracy?  (Convey Quotes) Film fixes a precise visual image in the viewer’s head. In fiction, you just hope you’re precise enough to convey the intended effect  (Convey Quotes) Writing is a hard gig, and it’s hard to convey a lot. That’s why scripts tend to be a little bit overwritten  (Convey Quotes) There are significant relationships, of course, between wanting things and caring about them.. The notion of caring is in large part constructed out of the notion of desire. Caring about something may be, in the end, nothing more than a certain complex mode of wanting it. However, simply attributing desire to a person does not in itself convey that the person cares about the object he desires  (Convey Quotes) It is not easy to convey, unless one has experienced it, the dramatic feeling of sudden enlightenment that floods the mind when the right idea finally clicks into place. One immediately sees how many previously puzzling facts are neatly explained by the new hypothesis. One could kick oneself for not having the idea earlier, it now seems so obvious. Yet before, everything was in a fog  (Convey Quotes)
