Text Quotes
I’ve always wanted to act and I grew up a little on film sets when my dad was working as an actor  (Film Quotes) Even if you try to copy a film shot by shot, you still can’t. It’s still your own film  (Film Quotes) The area of teenage life is not necessarily rarefied; we’ve all gone through that period. It’s not as rarefied as a western or a space adventure or a gangster film, but it has its own dynamic  (Film Quotes) I think that in some cases, I’ve made films that have a sentimental quality, at least as part of the film  (Film Quotes) If it’s a good work of adaptation, the book should remain a book and the film should remain a film, and you should not necessarily read the book to see the film. If you do need that, then that means that it’s a failure. That is what I think  (Film Quotes) Action films are great, but an action film that has characters that are compelling and a story that people can care about is something even better. We love to see action heroes that are vulnerable, that are sensitive, that are family people, that are accessible  (Film Quotes) It takes stamina to get up like an athlete every single night, seven to eight performances a week, 20 weeks in a row. And there are many young performers who only learn their craft in the two minute bits it takes to film a scene. You never learn the arc of storytelling, the arc of a character that way  (Film Quotes) The size of a studio film lets you see technology in a way that you wouldn’t on an independent film, like the gadgets and the angles and all that  (Film Quotes) The problem with being a film actress or a movie star is that people see you so huge that somehow you’re visually massive or somehow you’re in some removed space, which is a television or wherever. It somehow takes your humanity  (Film Quotes) When you make a film, you sign a contract with somebody, and it’s not only legally binding but morally binding. You agree to give this man a certain number of weeks of your life, and you just go for it as much as possible. Because, whatever happens, the film is going to come out, so you might as well try very hard to make it a good one  (Film Quotes) I have a preference for film just because of the familiarity. It’s what I know, and I sort of have nostalgia for it  (Film Quotes) I always start a film thinking I know how to do it, then I learn all over again  (Film Quotes) I always try and learn as much as I can from different departments on a film set  (Film Quotes) I can write songs, I’ve had songs in movies, but I can’t compose film scores, you know?  (Film Quotes) I always tell younger filmmakers, it’s not just about the acting or the art itself. It’s about how big of an audience watches your film  (Film Quotes) There’s a lot of thinking when you choreograph something. You’re not just choreographing some bodies, arms, legs flying around to look cool. It’s a lot more complicated and sophisticated. You also have to deal with the connection of the whole film, so when I choreograph, I think of the movement itself, the camera angles, the characters  (Film Quotes) In a film you only get two hours to do this big arc and so you have to pick and choose your moments carefully, but with television you get to take your time and just take it episode by episode and discover new things  (Film Quotes) My favourite stuff is visual, and I always want to work with visual artwork. I think it depends on the person, but for me, photographs of an image of something interesting or inspiring is worth a lot more than words to me. I think every concept I’ve come up with and turned into films or that will be hopefully become a film comes from images first  (Film Quotes) I have been portrayed by actors in three television documentaries, two plays, one musical and a film. It’s no fun watching yourself being traduced and imitated by an actor  (Film Quotes) Our film industry as well as the audiences are now open to unconventional pairings and subjects, which has aided my journey greatly  (Film Quotes) Every film has an origin. It is made under certain circumstances, and that is a very important point that should be kept in mind during a review  (Film Quotes) I used to spend a lot of time cutting out film posters from papers and putting them up on the wall in my room  (Film Quotes) One must go for a film with an open mind; a film best impacts you when your mind is a blank page to the film  (Film Quotes) I used to say that theatre was my favourite thing. But the more I do film, the more I appreciate it  (Film Quotes) I’ve often sat down with people talking about a film I’ve been in, and they haven’t realised I was in it  (Film Quotes) If I just concentrate I can walk into memory’s store and find the right shelf with the right film and disappear into it  (Film Quotes) I like silent pictures and I always have... I wanted to restore some of this beauty. I thought of it, I remember in this way: one of techniques of modern art is simplification, and that I must therefore simplify this film  (Film Quotes) A journey, after all, neither begins in the instant we set out, nor ends when we have reached our door step once again. It starts much earlier and is really never over, because the film of memory continues running on inside of us long after we have come to a physical standstill. Indeed, there exists something like a contagion of travel, and the disease is essentially incurable  (Film Quotes) We can see the film stars of yesterday in yesterday’s films, hear the voices of poest and singers on a record, keep the plays of dead dramatists upon our bookshelves, but the actor who holds his audience captive for one brief moment upon a lighted stage vanishes forever when the curtain falls  (Film Quotes) The more I write, the more I’ve come to realize that books have a different place in our society than other media. Books are different from television or film because they ask you to finish the project. You have to be actively engaged to read a book. It’s more like a blueprint. What it really is, is an opportunity... A book is a place where you’re forced to use your imagination. I find it disappointing that you’re not being asked to imagine more  (Film Quotes)
