I'm thankful for a holiday that doesn't require atonement or starvation
As we approach the holiday season, many of us are filled with gratitude for the time spent with loved ones, the delicious food shared, and the memories made. However, for some, the holidays can bring feelings of guilt, shame, and pressure to adhere to strict traditions or expectations. This is why I am thankful for a holiday that doesn't require atonement or starvation. In many cultures and religions, holidays are often associated with rituals of repentance, fasting, or self-denial. These practices can be meaningful and important for some individuals, but for others, they can be burdensome and stressful. The pressure to atone for past wrongdoings or to deprive oneself of food and pleasure can take away from the joy and celebration that should be at the heart of the holiday season.
I am grateful for a holiday that allows me to simply be present with my loved ones, to enjoy good food and good company, and to focus on gratitude and joy rather than guilt and deprivation. This holiday gives me the freedom to fully embrace the spirit of the season without the weight of expectations or the need to make amends for past mistakes.
