Text Quotes
Many science fiction writers are literary autodidacts who focus on the genre primarily as a literature of ideas rather than as a pure art form or a tool for the introspective examination of the human condition. I’m not entirely at ease with that self-description.  (Literature Quotes) Literature is man’s exploration of man by artificial light, which is better than natural light because we can direct it where we want.  (Literature Quotes) It’s not like since I make comics I only read comics and since I make movies I will only go out and watch movies. Any kind of artistic expression interests me; it goes from literature to music to sculpture, painting; whatever is extremely inspiring for me becomes a reference also for me.  (Literature Quotes) I began as a boy with artistic talent... as a visual artist... I thought that was what I’d become and in my late teens drifted into reading serious literature.  (Literature Quotes) Some Asian American male scholars have claimed this muse to be Guong Goong, God of Literature, and, simultaneously, although not coincidentally or triflingly, God of War, but I did not have such a gendered muse in mind then.  (Literature Quotes) Asian literature is evolving with the people. It’s always a reflection on what’s happening to the culture at large.  (Literature Quotes) I trained as a writer before I became a lawyer. I was headed for a life as an English professor, but that just wasn’t me. I’m not a scholar; I didn’t have a scholar’s attitude toward literature.  (Literature Quotes) I was lucky enough to be a child during the renaissance of Australian children’s literature, when people like Ivan Southall, Colin Thiele, Lilith Norman and Wrightson were pumping out hugely inspiring stuff.  (Literature Quotes) I wouldn’t want everybody to be an art or literature major, but the world would be poorer - figuratively, anyway - if we were all coding software or running companies. We also want musicians to awaken our souls, writers to lead us into fictional lands, and philosophers to help us exercise our minds and engage the world.  (Literature Quotes) I’m from Europe, and I was very aware that there are a lot of literature snobs - especially in Europe. As soon as something becomes a success, it has to be bad, and then they’ll do everything they can to stab it to death.  (Literature Quotes) I’m very attracted to exile literature - particularly Nabokov - exactly because the idea of being away from home for any serious length of time is so inconceivable to me.  (Literature Quotes) I think literature is somehow both a fantasy and a reality we should all get back to  (Literature Quotes) It is with fine sentiments that bad literature is made. Descend to the bottom of the well if you wish to see the stars.  (Literature Quotes) And in down times it shakes a lot of the bad SF out, a lot the stuff that was bought for literary reasons, which is neither entertaining nor great literature.  (Literature Quotes) The novel succeeds on terms exclusive to literature. A good film succeeds on terms exclusive to the cinema. That’s why so many bad novels can become good movies, like ‘Jaws’ or ‘The Godfather.’  (Literature Quotes) You can use your means in a good and bad way. In German-speaking art, we had such a bad experience with the Third Reich, when stories and images were used to tell lies. After the war, literature was careful not to do the same, which is why writers began to reflect on the stories they told and to make readers part of their texts. I do the same.  (Literature Quotes) I have spent a great deal of my time defending my work against those who see it as too complicated, too old in approach, too bleak to qualify as children’s literature. This has been the bane of my life.  (Literature Quotes) I just totally do not believe in this sort of Bart Simpson character who infects so much of our literature and film and TV stuff nowadays, these know-it-all kids who seem to understand the hypocrisy of the adult world so thoroughly and can talk about it with such articulateness. That’s bunk.  (Literature Quotes) Jesus claimed He had the power to raise himself from the dead and His followers would be raised from the dead. That’s a unique claim in the literature of religion.  (Literature Quotes) I used desperately to want to be a brooding hero from literature, but I’m optimistic, healthy and fair-haired.  (Literature Quotes) I haven’t been very enthusiastic about the commercialization of children’s literature. Kids should borrow books from the library and not necessarily be buying them.  (Literature Quotes) The hope in literature is that we are allowed to be imperfect, to write of our imperfection, without being overly critiqued for being unlikeable.  (Literature Quotes) Like most people, I have several pet subjects - that may or may not be interesting to other people. Don’t get me started on happiness, or habits, or children’s literature, or Winston Churchill, unless you really want to talk about it.  (Literature Quotes) I feel the written word, poetry and literature is just one of the most beautiful things that human beings do. So we have to fight for it.  (Literature Quotes) Just because I’ve extricated myself from religion doesn’t mean I’m not interested in the scriptures. I look at the Bible as itself. It’s a holy book, it has incredible literature in it and beautiful poetry.  (Literature Quotes) Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music - the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself.  (Literature Quotes) I had the impression from reading English literature that British women were great beauties, and I only had seen Julie Christie, and she was gorgeous and sexy. I don’t know whether it was just my taste, but when I got to London, I went two years without seeing a truly attractive woman. A lot of near misses.  (Literature Quotes) That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you’re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong.  (Literature Quotes) Look at the history of literature, and you find the history of beauty on the one hand and the IOUs on the other.  (Literature Quotes) Literature boils with the madcap careers of writers brought to the edge by the demands of living on their nerves, wringing out their memories and their nightmares to extract meaning, truth, beauty.  (Literature Quotes)
