Text Quotes
I have a bad tendency to get rapidly bored with my own material, so rewriting is hard for me. I mean, I already know the story and would rather read something new  (Read Quotes) Few are sufficiently sensible of the importance of that economy in reading which selects, almost exclusively, the very first order of books. Why, except for some special reason, read an inferior book, at the very time you might be reading one of the highest order?  (Read Quotes) What is literature, really? Boiled down to a single sentence, I’d say it’s this: an endless conversation about what it means to be human. And to read literature is to engage in that conversation  (Read Quotes) I can’t read historical fiction because I find the real thing so much more interesting  (Read Quotes) I’ve read somewhere that when you’re writing, you should stop while you’re doing well so you always want to go back to work  (Read Quotes) More and more the world is growing to love a lover, and one has only to read the newspapers to see how sympathetic are the times to any generous and adventurous display of the passions  (Read Quotes) I read somewhere that 77 per cent of all the mentally ill live in poverty. Actually, I’m more intrigued by the 23 per cent who are apparently doing quite well for themselves  (Read Quotes) Honor is a gift a man gives himself. You can be as good as anyone that ever lived. If you can read, you can learn everything that anyone ever learned. But you’ve got to want it  (Read Quotes) You can read all the textbooks and listen to all the records, but you have to play with musicians that are better than you  (Read Quotes) There are several books out on punk history, but I haven’t read any of them. I was there  (Read Quotes) Something just happens when you read a part. You know, if you’d like to do it or if you don’t believe it  (Read Quotes) Learning is the ally, not the adversary of genius... he who reads in a proper spirit, can scarcely read too much  (Read Quotes) The world is a beautiful book, but of little use to him who cannot read it  (Read Quotes) Coming to understand a painting or a symphony in an unfamiliar style, to recognize the work of an artist or school, to see or hear in new ways, is as cognitive an achievement as learning to read or write or add  (Read Quotes) My wife and I love to read. Were going to have to move out to make room for the books! And we have our dogs  (Read Quotes) Most actors really love it, that’s what they want to do. They burn to do it. And so they’ll read a script and think, that’s an interesting part. And because they love acting, that blinds them to the fact that the rest of it is pretentious nonsense, which it very often is  (Read Quotes) Often I had to imagine the things I needed. I learned very early to read amidst noise. And so I started writing and drawing at an early age  (Read Quotes) I have learned not to read reviews. Period. And I hate reviewers. All of them, or at least all but two or three. Life is much simpler ignoring reviews and the nasty people who write them. Critics should find meaningful work  (Read Quotes) I notice when I’m on these trips, I read like mad. It’s the only thing that seems to center me, bring me back to remembering who I am. Or forgetting who I am!  (Read Quotes) Cutting up fowl to predict the future is, if done honestly and with as little interpretation as possible, a kind of randomization. But chicken guts are hard to read and invite flights of fancy or corruption  (Read Quotes) I loved to read when I was a kid, and as soon as I realized that an actual person got to make up the books I loved so much, I decided that that was the job for me  (Read Quotes) I was lucky enough not to face any required summer reading lists until I went to college. So I still think of summer as the best time to read for fun  (Read Quotes) The piano is a universal instrument. If you start there, learn your theory and how to read, you can go on to any other instrument  (Read Quotes) It’s really important to remember that most people in the public eye are human for a start and a lot of things that you read in the media get slightly misconstrued and manipulated  (Read Quotes) Have you ever observed that we pay much more attention to a wise passage when it is quoted, than when we read it in the original author?  (Read Quotes) I hated to read. My mother could not get me to read. I’m going through the same thing with my daughter now. I love to read now, but I don’t remember reading  (Read Quotes) I’d want to read the stories that I’d written, I’d want to show the drawings that I made. That was just purely natural. So I knew I wanted to go into the arts in some way and that I’d want to show that work in some way  (Read Quotes) I have never learned to read or write music so I am not a virtuoso musician like the others you mentioned. I am completely unable to play like them because I never learned classical music, I just developed my own crazy style!  (Read Quotes) Unfortunately, I don’t get to read nearly as much as I want because I’m always working on my own stuff, either the novels or newspaper columns  (Read Quotes) When I’m working on a novel of my own, I try to read mostly nonfiction, although sometimes I break down and peek at something else  (Read Quotes)
