In some ways that’s a blessing because it takes a lot of pressure off you  (Readers Quotes) These people are real to me, and situations keep coming up where their emergence feels natural. It’s like meeting old friends. I hope readers feel the same way  (Readers Quotes) A novelist may lose his readers for a few pages; a playwright never dares lose his audience for a minute  (Readers Quotes) True readers... Are ready to go through a whole volume, if there be but hope of finding in it a single genuine thought or the mere suggestion even of a truth which has some fresh application to life  (Readers Quotes) Nothing requires so little mental effort as to narrate or follow a story. Hence everybody tells stories and the readers of stories outnumber all others  (Readers Quotes) 1. Find a subject you care about. 2. Do not ramble, though. 3. Keep it simple. 4. Have the guts to cut. 5. Sound like yourself. 6. Say what you mean to say. 7. Pity the readers  (Readers Quotes) I’ve included these little jokes and mysteries in my writing for the amusement of readers  (Readers Quotes) I have long felt that it is readers and viewers of conservative media who could benefit from a more balanced discussion of what is at stake in our policy and the actions of our government  (Readers Quotes) As society diversifies, the number of people who read literature is decreasing. It will be difficult for readers to digest my ideas through literature  (Readers Quotes) Countless generations of students and general readers have been intrigued by this deeply human book, which half reveals and half conceals the fascinating yet enigmatic personality of its author  (Readers Quotes) A writer doesn’t write for his readers, does he? Yet he has to take elementary precautions all the same, to make them comfortable  (Readers Quotes) So idle are dull readers, and so industrious are dull authors, that puffed nonsense bids fair to blow unpuffed sense wholly out of the field  (Readers Quotes) Whatever other learning he wanted, he was master of two books unknown to many profound readers, though books which the last conflagration can alone destroy, I mean the book of nature and that of man  (Readers Quotes) An index is a necessary implement. Without this, a large author is but a labyrinth without a clue to direct the readers within  (Readers Quotes) Once upon a time there was... A king! My young readers will instantly exclaim. No, children, you are wrong. Once upon a time there was a piece of wood  (Readers Quotes) I have observed that vulgar readers almost always lose their veneration for the writings of the genius with whom they have had personal intercourse  (Readers Quotes) There are both dull correctness and piquant carelessness; it is needless to say which will command the most readers and have the most influence  (Readers Quotes) Readers always seem to think that the author has some control over the design of their books  (Readers Quotes) I believe my readers are crazy about their parents and want to be just like them when they grow up  (Readers Quotes) Readers have to be sought out and won to the light of the page, poem by poem, one by one by one  (Readers Quotes) But editors are still the world’s readers.
