Text Quotes
All of this happened a long time ago. But not so long ago that everyone who played a part in it is dead. Some can still be met in dark old rooms with nurses in attendance  (Rooms Quotes) There simply aren’t any grand moments in life, and we surely don’t live in those moments. No, we live in the utterly mundane. We exist in the bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, and hallways of life. This is where the character of our life is set. This is where we live the life of faith  (Rooms Quotes) Journeying through secret doors, curving corridors, and connecting rooms into the mountain was like being digested by the different organs of a deity  (Rooms Quotes) I’m kind of a nerd in that I get really excited about things... I love anticipating if they’re going to like their rooms or not  (Rooms Quotes) I was cutting and threading pipe in the tunnels to get water into the shower rooms for athletics. I was repairing old metal windows, fixing cement walls where rain was coming through, and drying out the maple gym floors in hopes of removing the warping  (Rooms Quotes) Modern death is a matter of bright rooms and hard machines. Live long enough, and you might be filed away in a nursing home, your history scoured away, your life winnowed down to a few items on the table and some pictures of people who don’t come around enough. When you are about to pass on, there is no quiet to attend you: busy fuss and professional zeal strive to bring you back, nail you to the soft cross of the rented bed  (Rooms Quotes) After decades spent in rewrite rooms surrounded by other shouting writers, I discovered that I work best alone. I like being in charge of my time, working out the problems according to my own rhythms and being able to nap. That’s a big one, the napping on demand!  (Rooms Quotes) In city rooms and in the bars where newspeople drink, you can find out what’s going on. You can’t find it in the papers  (Rooms Quotes) We fret about words, we writers. Words mean. Words point. They are arrows. Arrows stuck in the rough hide of reality. And the more portentous, more general the word, the more they can also resemble rooms or tunnels. They can expand, or cave in. They can come to be filled with a bad smell. They will often remind us of other rooms, where we’d rather dwell or where we think we are already living. They can be spaces we lose the art or the wisdom of inhabiting. And eventually those volumes of mental intention we no longer know how to inhabit will be abandoned, boarded up, closed down  (Rooms Quotes) You’re standing in a closet, and you’ve been in it so long that you can’t remember that there’s anything else, that there’s a huge house with lots of rooms and there are lands outside the house and planets and universes and creations  (Rooms Quotes) I do not have easy days at home now and I drift between fear and helplessness in sunny rooms where it is unspeakably cold. Strange shudders of transformation, bodily experienced to the point of vulnerability, visions of mysteries until the certainty of having died, ecstasies to the point of stony petrifaction, and a continuation of dreaming sad dreams  (Rooms Quotes) I’m in hotel rooms night after night, playing a lot of the same venues as my dad and carrying the guitar that used to be his. We’re the same person. I don’t know if he realises how much of a legacy he has left to his children  (Rooms Quotes) An artist’s studio should be a small space because small rooms discipline the mind and large ones distract it  (Rooms Quotes) Painters paint outdoors, or in rooms full of people; they paint their lovers, alone, naked; they paint and eat; they paint and listen to the radio. It is a soothing way of doing your job  (Rooms Quotes) I work from the people that interest me, and that I care about, in rooms that I live in and know. I use the people to invent my pictures, and I can work more freely when they are there  (Rooms Quotes) When they have a choice, people will always gravitate to those rooms which have light on two sides, and leave the rooms which are lit only from one side unused and empty  (Rooms Quotes) The day I was born songs were on records, phones were tied down, computers needed rooms and the web was fiction. Change the world. You can  (Rooms Quotes) I don’t think of my plays as steamy places where people display huge amounts of emotions. The feeling is underneath, which in my experience is where most feeling is. I don’t myself spend my life shouting in rooms, and I don’t really believe things in which people do spend their time in total hysteria  (Rooms Quotes) Can’t do any work with a rock star; you have to go through their lawyers and their agents and their managers and you have to book them hotel rooms. When you work with your friends, you just call them up and they come over and you record and then you go out to see a movie  (Rooms Quotes) I’m a major feminist. There’s a real politic in life, where I’ve been in rooms where real decisions are made, and it’s a lot of powerful white men. There are women in those rooms, but not as many as there should be  (Rooms Quotes) I might want to open a hotel and design all the rooms. Or maybe a museum that lets me curate all the events  (Rooms Quotes) Most people have never known solitude... But there are a few of the other kind who can go back to their rooms anywhere and close the door on the whole world, and feel that they need never emerge  (Rooms Quotes) They say productivity is the key to confidence, and confidence... to productivity. And they’re happy walking back and forth between these two rooms, each the excuse for the other  (Rooms Quotes) My reading practice is one reason I mostly don’t read electronically. Different books are in different rooms of my house, and one is in my backpack. Physical location tells me what book to read  (Rooms Quotes) Committee meetings are always held at inconvenient times and usually take place in dark, dusty rooms the temperatures of which are unsuited to the human body  (Rooms Quotes) If one sits down and concentrates on imagining the worst possible surroundings for rehearsing a musical show, it’s never as bad as the rehearsal rooms one actually lands in  (Rooms Quotes) Trapped in the bureaucracy nightmare, real families suffer when the big banks and their servicers force foreclosures. The emotional toll on children packing up their rooms and on parents struggling to find a temporary roof is a deep one  (Rooms Quotes) I’d love to think that people in the future would gather in theatres, at conventions, and in darkened rooms, and read it out to each other  (Rooms Quotes) Rooms are a fixed size, which can’t be altered without pulling down walls and building new ones. They should be unchanging in shape and proportions. But sometimes they do change depending on who’s in them  (Rooms Quotes) A husband and wife who are in the habit of occupying separate rooms are either beings apart, or they have found happiness. Either they hate or they adore each other  (Rooms Quotes)
