Text Quotes
I grew up on the south side of Chicago, most of that time on welfare. My mother and sister and I used to live with my grandparents and various cousins. We shared a two-bedroom tenement, and the three of us slept in one of those bedrooms and had a set of bunk beds.  (Sister Quotes) In kindergarten, we had this Irish Catholic headmistress called Sister Leonie, and I remember she would tell us, say, to put the crayons in the box. I remember thinking, ‘Why is everyone finding this so easy? Why should the crayons be in the box?’  (Sister Quotes) When I was really young. My sister and I would create different characters with our Barbie dolls - I’d be the crazy diva Barbie and she’d be the homeless Barbie.  (Sister Quotes) I wasn’t allowed to have sugar as a kid. We didn’t have candy or soda, or anything, so Easter and Halloween were my favorite times ‘cause I could eat as much candy as I wanted. So, we would do the baskets, and my sister and I would go crazy.  (Sister Quotes) This is how I started: My mom was crazy for antique shops and junk shops, and my sister and I would play this game where, if we were driving with my parents and saw a junk shop or an antique shop, we’d scream at the top of our lungs. My poor father would have heart failure and screech to a halt, and we’d leap out and go and explore.  (Sister Quotes) My sister and I never engaged in sibling rivalry. Our parents weren’t that crazy about either one of us.  (Sister Quotes) My mom, dad, and sister have all watched every episode of everything I’ve ever done  (Sister Quotes) Because my dad died when I was young, and I have a severely disabled sister, I couldn’t really push the envelope at home.  (Sister Quotes) There are absolutely no problems between me, my dad and my sister. Obviously I grew up with just my mum, but my relationship with my dad is just fine.  (Sister Quotes) I always wanted to be a surgeon, because I had a lot of admiration for my father, who is also a surgeon. I also wanted to be a heart surgeon. That was motivated by the fact that my young aunt, a sister of my dad, died in her early 20s of a correctable heart disease.  (Sister Quotes) I used to have an eBay addiction. I was really good at selling stuff. My sister needed to get to a funeral in Ireland - the airlines were on strike - so I listed her on eBay: damsel in distress. Guys were outbidding guys to be the hero and help her. A guy who owned a helicopter won.  (Sister Quotes) I think that when I was child, acting was mostly just a hobby for me. It was something that my parents encouraged me to think of the way that my brothers thought of their cross-country classes, or my little sister to dance classes and art classes, and it was something like that for me.  (Sister Quotes) I have a sister who is a dancer and dance teacher. We grew up dancing together. I wanted to become a ballerina when I was a kid, so she and I were always at ballet conservatories and going to school with our hair in buns.  (Sister Quotes) God has enabled man to distinguish between his sister, his mother, his daughter and his wife  (Sister Quotes) When I was three and a half years old, I heard my big sister tell my mum that at school that day all the kids sat on the floor and watched ‘The Neverending Story.’ Having never heard of the movie, I concluded that this was what school must be: sitting cross legged on the floor listening to a never-ending story. Page after page.  (Sister Quotes) Christ. No, not Christ. These leavings were made in propitiation of a much older God than the Christian one. People have called Him different things at different times, but Rachel’s sister gave Him a perfectly good name, I think: Oz the Gweat and Tewwible, God of dead things left in the ground, God of rotting flowers in drainage ditches, God of the Mystery.  (Sister Quotes) If watching your child die is a parent’s worst nightmare, imagine having to tell your other child that his sister is dead... Although I am certain that he cried, that we all cried, what I remember more is how we collapsed into each other, as if the weight of our loss literally crushed us.  (Sister Quotes) People look for patterns in everything. It’s what keeps us sane, I suppose. I struggle to see any patterns in my life. I think I can understand depression a bit because of my sister. My own feelings of... I’m aware that, if you feel down, it can be strangely unrelated to circumstances around you. That’s just the way life is.  (Sister Quotes) For it is the suffering flesh, it is suffering, it is death, that lovers perpetuate upon the earth. Love is at once the brother, son, and father of death, which is its sister, mother, and daughter. And thus it is that in the depth of love there is a depth  (Sister Quotes) Sister, you’re trying to keep me alive as an old curiosity, but I’m done, I’m finished, I’m going to die.  (Sister Quotes) My parents taught my sister and me the importance of giving back and making a difference in another person’s life.  (Sister Quotes) I thought of all the different kinds of love in the world. I could think of ten without even trying. The way parents love their kids, the way you love a puppy or chocolate ice cream or home or your favorite book or your sister. Or your uncle. There’s those kinds of love and then there’s the other kind. The falling kind.  (Sister Quotes) My sister and I know our lives could have been different - radically, unthinkably, irretrievably different - if we had not been adopted. We might have found ourselves in homes without love, stability or kindness. We might have found ourselves in care for much longer, without the secure attachment that being cradled in a mother’s arms brings.  (Sister Quotes) Moving to a new country is always difficult, but the fact my dad and my sister came to live with me was a huge help. That made things easier.  (Sister Quotes) I stayed in Baghdad every summer until I was 14. My dad’s sister is still there, but many of my relatives have managed to get out. People forget that there are still people there who are not radicalized in any particular direction, trying to live normal lives in a very difficult situation.  (Sister Quotes) I think it’s been a little difficult at times for the audience, because they’ve told me they see me as a family member. So to see your little sister sing about sex... I think they are pretty used to it now.  (Sister Quotes) My own mother, my sister and nearly all the women in my family had full-time jobs as mothers. They were wonderful at it. They drove their children back and forth to soccer, skating lessons, piano lessons, private schools, but I sensed, even in my own mother, a kind of distant dissatisfaction.  (Sister Quotes) I’m a huge ‘Vampire Diaries’ fan. My sister got me into ‘Doctor Who.’ Those are my biggest things.  (Sister Quotes) All my life I’ve been that way - ever since I was a kid. It doesn’t matter whether we played video games or even before that when we had board games when you played with your sister and mom and dad - I didn’t like losing then and didn’t want to do anything but win when we played.  (Sister Quotes) I’ve been drawing my whole life. My mom says my sister and I were drawing by age 1. Animation seems a real, natural extension of drawing as a way of telling a story visually.  (Sister Quotes)
