Text Quotes
One of the privileges of doing television is the ability to evaluate my own performance and try to improve upon it. I know what’s working and what’s not working  (Television Quotes) I am open to doing anything. I don’t think in this day and age that, aside from two or three people, there isn’t an actor who can just do one thing. I also think you can go back and forth between film and television pretty seamlessly  (Television Quotes) Twitter is a kind of verbalization of people yelling at their television sets or gnashing their teeth at the newspaper  (Television Quotes) I thought I’d never do film, let alone television. I was a diehard theater nut  (Television Quotes) The thing I love about television is that people watch you in their pajamas, and when they’re eating dinner. You’re part of the family  (Television Quotes) Variety is very, very good. Going from medium to medium, if you get the chance to do it, from theater to television to film, which are all distinctly different, keeps me sharp  (Television Quotes) The predominant difference between television and film is the pace to which you work, but the development of the character or the process for playing the character isn’t necessarily different  (Television Quotes) The other main difference between film and television is that you have the opportunity to flush out a character, over a longer period of time. Whereas with a film, you’re confined to two or three hours, or whatever it may be  (Television Quotes) What’s so great about making television is that it’s a collaborative beast. It’s created by a great many hands belonging to a great many people  (Television Quotes) You hope to see an arc of growth in your ability to become a character on television  (Television Quotes) If I could act in theater, my whole life, and never act in film or television again, and just direct the rest of my life, I would gladly do that  (Television Quotes) Honestly, I love television. I love the idea of going to work every day and getting to know your crew and having a rapport with your directors and having a family of cast  (Television Quotes) The thing I know how to do most is write a play. I came up loving plays and learning about plays and writing plays. I actually feel like an outsider when I’m writing movies and television  (Television Quotes) I think right now television is the best that it’s ever been, and I think that it’s the worst that film has ever been  (Television Quotes) Everything is about color. If you look at magazines and advertising and television, the thing you remember is the color  (Television Quotes) What do we think of sex on television? Frankly, I think it’s a pain. For one thing, the cable box gets wedged into your back and gets real uncomfortable  (Television Quotes) When the machine of a human being is turned on, it seems to produce a protagonist, just as a television produces an image  (Television Quotes) The preferred world can be seen any evening on television in the succession of programs where the good always wins  (Television Quotes) I work with people and we come up with ideas for movies, television and things like that. It’s fun and I love doing it  (Television Quotes) I have a very primitive sense that if I just turn on a radio or the television, that somebody’s playing that stuff for me  (Television Quotes) I grew up watching movies on television and computer screens. They affected me just as powerfully in the small private space  (Television Quotes) I’ve done so many television pilots. I’ve done eleven I think and I’ve never had one get picked up. There was never one that I was a guest star on. It’s just fascinating, but I don’t think it would be fun to be recognized all the time  (Television Quotes) Black people watch more television than anybody else, which makes it legitimate to talk about television. Its anesthetizing effect has been quite real. But that concern isn’t new  (Television Quotes) American television is very much created by the writers, just the volume of it. The writers are so key. You’re just trying to do something that serves that script. And in general, film isn’t all about the script, really  (Television Quotes) When you work in front of the people, either in a film or in television, the people who are in the room with you are not watching you work, they’re working so you’d have to light a fire to get them to watch what you were doing  (Television Quotes) I have no television to go on so I get a lot of writing done. That’s my substitute for television  (Television Quotes) All joking aside, I’m a television watcher and I get frustrated with shows sometimes when they set up puzzles and then they don’t give answers. It’s just more questions and more questions  (Television Quotes) There’s a nimble quality to the way a television actor can work. When that muscle gets strong it’s a very valuable thing  (Television Quotes) I feel television is in a fantastically rich vein of what it’s presenting both by opportunity to actors and to audiences  (Television Quotes) I describe television as feminine and movies as masculine, in the sense that television wants to examine a problem from all sides and talk about it for a long time, and movies just want to hit the climax and then maybe have a smoke  (Television Quotes)
