The evil habit of seeking God - and effectively prevents us from finding God in full revelation

In his book "The Pursuit of God," A.W. Tozer discusses the concept of seeking God as both a noble pursuit and a potential stumbling block. He argues that the very act of seeking God can sometimes become an obstacle to truly finding Him in all His fullness. Tozer suggests that this can happen when we approach our search for God with the wrong motives or attitudes.

One of the ways in which seeking God can become a hindrance is when we do so out of a sense of duty or obligation, rather than out of a genuine desire to know Him. Tozer warns against approaching our relationship with God as a mere checklist of religious activities, rather than as a deep and personal connection with the Creator. When we seek God out of a sense of duty, we may miss out on the joy and intimacy that comes from truly knowing Him.

Another way in which seeking God can be a stumbling block is when we do so with a sense of entitlement or expectation. Tozer cautions against approaching God with a mindset of demanding answers or solutions to our problems, rather than with a humble and open heart. When we seek God with a sense of entitlement, we may miss out on the opportunity to truly surrender ourselves to His will and trust in His perfect timing and plan for our lives.

Tozer also warns against seeking God with a spirit of pride or self-righteousness. He argues that when we approach our search for God with a sense of superiority or self-importance, we may miss out on the humility and brokenness that are necessary for a true encounter with the Divine. When we seek God with a spirit of pride, we may fail to recognize our own need for His grace and mercy, and instead rely on our own efforts and abilities.
