We have almost forgotten that God is a Person and, as such, can be cultivated as any person can
In the modern world, it seems that the concept of God as a person has been largely forgotten. We have reduced God to a distant, abstract force or idea, rather than recognizing Him as a living, personal being with whom we can have a relationship. A.W. Tozer, a renowned Christian author and theologian, believed that this loss of understanding has had a detrimental effect on our spiritual lives.Tozer argued that just as we can cultivate relationships with other people through communication, time spent together, and acts of love and service, we can also cultivate a relationship with God. He believed that God desires to have a personal relationship with each of us, and that we can grow closer to Him through prayer, worship, and obedience to His will.
In his book "The Pursuit of God," Tozer writes, "God is a person, and in the deep of His mighty nature He thinks, wills, enjoys, feels, loves, desires and suffers as any other person may." This statement challenges us to rethink our understanding of God and to approach Him with the same reverence, love, and intimacy that we would offer to any other person in our lives.
Tozer believed that cultivating a personal relationship with God is essential for our spiritual growth and well-being. He wrote, "The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One." By seeking God as a person and investing time and effort into our relationship with Him, we can experience a deep sense of fulfillment, purpose, and peace that transcends the challenges and uncertainties of life.
