The concept of being broken is a universal truth that applies to every single person on this planet. We all have our own struggles, traumas, and imperfections that make us feel like we are falling apart at times. However, what sets us apart is how we choose to deal with our brokenness. Some people are able to hold the pieces together better than others, masking their pain and putting on a brave face for the world to see.There are those who have experienced deep emotional wounds and yet continue to show up every day with a smile on their face. They have learned to cope with their brokenness in a way that allows them to function in society and maintain a sense of normalcy. These individuals may have developed healthy coping mechanisms, sought therapy, or found solace in their faith or spirituality. They have accepted their brokenness as a part of who they are, but it does not define them.
On the other hand, there are those who struggle to keep it together, whose brokenness is visible for all to see. They may turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance abuse, self-harm, or destructive behaviors. Their pain is raw and palpable, and they may feel like they are drowning in a sea of despair. These individuals may not have the resources or support system in place to help them navigate their brokenness, and as a result, they may spiral further into darkness.
It is important to remember that everyone is fighting their own battles, and we never truly know what someone else is going through behind closed doors. Just because someone appears to have it all together on the outside does not mean that they are not struggling on the inside. We must practice empathy and compassion towards others, recognizing that we are all broken in one way or another. It is how we choose to deal with our brokenness that ultimately defines us.
